maybe I shuld turn this off - but gotta figure how first.
Terry Gillespie: Kathy's Blog
Promotion - I just read an article that said; word of mouth works best, that we already knew, but the author also said "if you’re anything like me, you often forget about concerts you’d like to go to unless you get multiple, different reminders". Wow! how multiple...until I start driving you crazy? I would like some feed-back on this.
What works and what doesn't, for example: posters size 11 x 17 - do they work? Table top flyers to take home - do they work? Email blasts - how often? Radio plugs - what is your favorite station and what newspaper do you read ? Tell me all.
I am trying to divide the email lists up geographically so you only get an email if you are living in the nieghborhood of the show. If you find you are getting the wrong information re-join Terry 's email list on his homepage with the right contact info and make sure to enter your closest town- so I don't send you everything. You can mention in the notes section that this is to correct your old listing.

I did it again...started veering off the chosen path. The Adair Coffee House live recording is great, good, wonderful BUT we are already working on another CD recording to follow up Brother of the Blues. Stay focused on the new CD, forget Adair for now. BTW the name of the upcoming CD is going to be 'Big Money" and will be released September 2010. The Ottawa launch date is already booked at the Blacksheep for Sept 11 and The Toronto launch is booked at Hugh's Room Sept 22. Now stay focused Kathy and complete the bookings. The boys are busy in the studio adding the over dubs. We are gong to the Maritimes in June for Fred to final mix. So stay tuned hopefully there will be some gigs going down while we are there, probably with Bill Stevenson - won't that be treat! Fee free to add your two cents and give me advice - I always appreciate the feedback!
even when I think nothing is going on - tons of stuff is. We booked a couple of more gigs and talked a lot about staging and what works and what doesn't. For instance what worked a long time ago and far away doesn't work now - the times are different and people's tastes change - it has too. And it is our (Terry's) job to provide excellent quality music, creative and fresh every time, seriously, but that is not enough. You also have to engage your audience. Bernie St-Laurent said it best "you have too love your audience". And how is the best way to do that?
First you have to respect your audience but what else? If you have a moment tell me what you enjoy most from an evening outing. Not so much dance or duo, but more how you feel at the end of the nite and what happened during the evening to make you feel like that. What are major turn-offs? What times work best, nights, etc. Lay-it on me. Tell me what you luv and the other thing too!

today's question is: do we produce and release the recording from Adair Coffee House? Gord Erskine recorded Terry and the band when they played there in January. It is a great recording and a totally unexpected jewel, the tunes are wonderful, the audience noise is minimal (except for a bit of whooping at the end of some of the tunes). I am so tempted to release it. The con is that it is not all original tunes and the copyright costs would be pretty high. It is however, a great example of how an evening of music with Terry Gillespie, blues legend, sounds.
BTW: I think a creative interpretation (not cover) of a song is a good as an original tune - there are great song writers out there - we love their music and want to honour them. But, the costs...hmmm???
